Filmmakers renting Noida’s gated communities for film shoot

Are you one of those crazy Bollywood fans who can do anything to catch a glimpse of your favourite star? If you reside near Noida and in the lookout of a residence then you can meet your dream star by searching a perfect home with some pre requisite conditions.

Unlike Mumbai, Noida has sprawling housing projects with sizeable campus and beautiful landscaping. This has not just attracted potential home buyers but also film makers to shoot their production in the campus.

Koel Mitra, assistant director, Motion Flicks Private Limited says, “The big housing campus looks good on camera. Songs picturisation or introduction scenes are often well received when shot on green background. It gives a real look and feel to the scene.”

She also added that the production cost is lesser as the house is already standing than building an artificial set from scratch. “Even the owners welcome us and don’t mind renting out their unit for the purpose. That’s an advantage of living in India where Bollywood has a deep impact on audience,” Mitra added.

In fact, one of the developers in Mumbai has designed their project like a film set. This would not only allow the society to get rental earnings from the film shoot but also allow residents to enjoy seeing the camera-roll in their neighbourhood.

How much do you need to pay?

The upcoming residential stock in gated communities of Noida will have all the amenities required by the film crew. As per surveyed data, the property values range between Rs 5,000-9,000 per sq ft but the extra charges levied by the builders can put pressure on your pocket.

Costs like development charges, maintenance charge and common area electricity bill are often over and above the usual monthly charges that you pay to the resident welfare association, if you have a big sprawling township.

Talking about the maintenance required, Anuj Saxena, one of the residents of Sector-50 who recently rented out his bungalow for an upcoming flick on social causes says, “Renting out place to a production unit can be easy and tough at the same time.”

Saxena says if your home is being rented out on frequent basis, usually production house takes care of the maintenance and wear and tears. Otherwise, for one of the cases, all the extra charges are included in the rent amount only.
