The Haryana government directed Huda to operationalise the completed part of the Dwarka Expressway which is not under litigation, in a decision that will give fillip to the large number of real estate projects on the road.
A 14-km stretch of the highway from Sector 81 to New Palam Vihar will be open to traffic from August 22, the deadline given by the government.
Additional chief secretary (ACS) of town and country planning department (TCP), P Raghavendra Rao, directed that all master roads in the sectors adjoining the Dwarka Expressway which are completed also to be connected to the highway.
The decision assumes significance as a number of builders gave possession to apartment buyers in their projects, and many would do six months.
But the failure to finish the expressway in time caused major problems for apartment buyers who bought property in the hope of living on a road with fast moving traffic and excellent infrastructure.
Huda administrator Hardeep Singh said, “We will try to operationalise this section before the deadline and also ensure that master roads which have been finished are connected to the expressway.”
Huda was also asked to complete the master infrastructure in sectors along this road that includes sewerage, water pipe-lines, storm water drainage, and power.
The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway is 18 km long and it connects Kherki Daula on NH8 to Dwarka in Delhi. It also connects the Pataudi and Basai roads.
If the present section is connected, it will benefit 25 sectors close to the highway.
Litigation by land owners meant that the road could not be build at New Palam Vihar and at Kherki Daula.
Huda will also have to remove two private companies and high tension power lines to ensure early completion of the road.
